how put zipper into a skort when both are attached

Can someone tell me how to replace a zipper in a skort that both shorts and skirt are zipped together at once?

Hi susan1948,

There are different ways to insert a zipper in a skort. Since I am unable to see exactly how this zipper was sewn in your case, what you can do is look and see how the zipper was inserted while you are removing it.

You can also take pictures at different stages as you undo the stitches to be able to replicate the sewing process.

The most common way to insert the zipper in this case would be to baste the zipper opening of both layers together and treat them as one, when sewing in the zipper. However in this case the skirt and shorts should have at least a 2 cm seam sewn together bellow the zipper.
