Part A - Test your pattern on muslin fabric

Learn how to prepare your pattern, draft a waistband pattern, cut out the pattern, square and cut the muslin fabric pieces, transfer the pattern marks to the muslin using chalk and tailor tacks and baste mark the zipper opening. Learn how to construct the muslin pants. Baste the seams and darts by machine, how to press open the seams, baste the waistband to the muslin pants then pin and baste the hem of the pants for the first fitting.

By testing your pattern using muslin fabric you will find out where you need to make adjustments. Then make the adjustments on your pattern before cutting your main fabric.

Part B - First and second fitting on muslin and adjusting the pattern

Learn how to do the first fitting on muslin pants and make adjustments as needed, do a second fitting to make sure that the adjustments are good. Learn how to transfer the adjustments to the pattern from the muslin pants. Calculate how much fabric is needed for our pants. Square and lay the pattern on the fashion fabric and cut the pants pieces.

Part C - Cutting and sewing the fashion fabric

Learn how to cut and fuse interfacing for the waistband, how to transfer the pattern marks to the fabric pieces. Construct the pants, sewing and finishing the raw edges. Learn how to press the pants for this stage of the sewing process and how to sew the fly zipper with narrow top stitch placket.

Part D - Final Fitting and finishing the pants

Learn how to sew the waistband to the pants, how to do the hem using invisible stitches. Learn how to sew the buttonhole and button, press the finished pants and form the crease lines on the pant legs.
