Smock/Apron with lining? Does it have to include a lining?

I bought what I thought to be  a super-easy pattern for a smock-type apron. There are many things I don't like about typical BBQ style aprons so this on is almost like a wrap. [to be specific it is a See & Sew Pattern B5274 and can be seen here: http://butterick.mccall.com/b5274-products-9610.php?page_id=678 ].  It is supposed to have a lining throughout the inside but I am wondering if I can get by without the lining.....

Thanks for any help you can give, I don't have enough fabric for a lining and will need to go out for more. No, I have not yet mastered sewing, but I'm trying again...

Hi, I looked at the smock

Hi, I looked at the smock that you want to make, It is very nice and I could use one just like it. I am not very experienced at sewing yet, but it looks like to me that the lining of the smock will finish all the edges. If you omit the lining you will need to finish the edges somehow and binding is one way. Also I think that the smock will be much lighter and not have as much stucture than if it was lined. Hope this helps.
