In this part you will learn how to: Measure the body for styling your block pattern, connect your bodice and skirt block patterns together, add ease and style your pattern according to your design for a square neckline, princess seams on the front and back patterns and transferring the bust side dart and shoulder dart to the princess seams to the front and back armholes.
You will also learn how to draft the facing patterns and transfer your marks from the shell pattern to them. Then how to add flare to the skirt panel sections and the seam and hem allowances to your patterns.
In this part you will learn how to: mark the tailor tacks and notches on the shell panels, how to copy the lining panels from the front and back shell. You will also learn how to adjust the facing pattern to let the dress fall nicely on the body and trim the excess from around the shell, lining and facing patterns to get the patterns ready for cutting the fabric.
In this part you will learn how to square and prepare the fabric for cutting. Laying the pattern on the Shell and lining fabric, then cut the shell, lining and fusible interfacing. Learn how to fuse the interfacing to the facing pieces. Baste marking the seams by hand and machine, then pinning and basting all the seams together for the shell, lining and the facing pieces and then do the first fitting.
In this part of the lesson you will learn how to make the first fitting adjustments on the shell. Then transfer these adjustments to the facing and lining. We will also sew the seams on the shell, facing and lining and finish the raw edges for the seams we have sewn. You will learn how to clip notches in the curved sections of the seam allowances and layer the seam allowances as well.
In the final part, you will learn how to press open the princess seams of the dress on the shell and the lining. Then you will learn how to join the lining to the facing, insert the invisible zipper and do the second fitting. Next you will learn how to pin, baste and sew the facing to the shell around the neckline and armholes and sew the facing and lining around the zipper. Next you will learn how to hem the rounded edge of the shell using binding techique, and sew a double fold on the rounded hem of the lining. You will also learn how to press the finished dress.
