Good pattern paper I suggest these!

I think some people like my idea.

I use freezer paper for my patterns. You can get this at any grocery store around zip-loc, plastic wrap, etc. I also use perchment paper for cooking. You can also get this near the freezer paper, zip-loc, that sort of things.

I like both because they are easy to write with regular pencils,quite strong, and wide enough.  Also somewhat transperant, and I can manage to trace another pattern or shapes.  The freezer paper has wax on one side, and many people use it for applique.   You can iron a few points to keep it to stay, so the fabric doesn't move if you like.  It never game me a problem with residue or anything. (but please test before you do that on your fabric!)  I usually don't iron it anyway.

Also I use tissue paper for gift wrapping for pattern change when I use the commercial tissue pattern.  I get those tissue paper at Walmart.  I started to use it because I bought a bag of it for kid's birthday presents, and had prenty left over.   These tissue paper come folded, not like freezer paper and perchment paper which come in rolls.  You can dry iron tissue paper to get rid of folded lines.

These are all cheap alternatives and much better than newspapers or wrapping papers.  You can use freezer paper for screen printing, stencils, and appliques.

P.S.  perchement papers can be used asa teflon sheet (non-stick sheet) when you iron the fusible interfacing.
