Hello Nehzat,
Your video tutorials are wonderful and I am learning so much, that I really feel inspired to sew. However at the moment I am stuck. I am following the back bodice tutorial and applying it to a different measurement, a measurement for a larger person.
Your side seam back bodice tutorial follows a side seam of 21.5cm to mark (x) from (s), but the measurement that I am following marks a side seam of 27cm, which surpasses the marked measure for (w) by 2.5cm, what do I do?
Also the darts so far are very narrow, in the measures of less than a centimeter, in the range of .4, .8 that type of thing. I was hoping that I could finish the whole bodice, that I could just make it, but I can't. Is there a rule to follow in drafting for larger persons? I really want to make this work, can you help me?
Thanks allot!
Dear siboney,
Thanks so much for your kind words. I am happy to have inspired you.
First, I suggest that you measure the bodice side seam again, the same as I instruct in the video lesson. If your X falls above W, it is okay. Just draw the bottom part of the armhole to wherever X is located.
The intake of your darts will be smaller for a larger person. Sewing the darts, even with a very small intake will give a finer look to the finished garment.
Happy Sewing,
Nehzat
