I learned to sew clothes in 1970 in a home economics class and evidently, there are many things I never learned. The clothes I made reflected my lack of knowledge. I am very excited to find this site and am starting from the very beginning. So my first question is:
When hand sewing is there a particular type of needle you should use?
Thanks!
One with a point! Just kiddin. What I know is when sewing with knits you need a ball point needle, when sewing with woven fabric (cotton etc.) use a regular sewing needle, sometimes you might need a bigger needle with a larger eye so you can use more than one strand of thread. One of the most helpful things I learned in the hand sewing section was cutting the thread at an angle, man does that make threading the needle easy or what.
I'm new to the site also, I'm not sure if I should be commenting, so wait to hear from Nehzat for the for sure answer, but that's what I do and what I've been told.
Good luck to you.
