I am interested in sewing at home doing alterations. maybe some day working with weddings ect. but for right now i thought it might be good to just stick with hemming. I have alot of slacks to work on for practice. Someone gave my husband alot of clothing and most of it will need alterations. Working on suit alterations scares me just a little after watching the alteration video lesson on shoulders. Seemed like alot of time consuming work . However i do want to learn to do real good work the correct way. Does anyone out there make a good living doing Alterations ? thanks , CM
Hi Cherie,
You can start with alterations and as work you will learn a lot, specially when you try to maintain the original style of the garment. Pay attention to the different parts of the garment and the details of their construction. This is useful especially on well made clothing.
The more you practice the more confident you'll be and in turn this will be reflected in your work.
People are willing to pay more for fine alterations, will stay as customers and will recommend you to others.
Happy sewing,
Nehzat
