Making curves using measurements

 I have a pretty good eye in terms of drawing curved lines. However is there a trick or tip in transferring body measurements into curved lines on paper, especially for pants. I can do it for princess seams and arnholes but with pants it seems more difficult. Other than using the tape measure to make the curve and trace it, is there a better way (french curves are not working)?

The best thing to do here is to draw the curves free hand. However if they don't come out the way you like, you can erase the sections that don't look good and draw the lines again. 
 
Repeat until you achieve the right shape. With experience you will become better and better.
