I've followed your instruction for making my own skirt pattern for the full figure. I have just a couple of questions.
I prefer my skirts to be a little loose so that they are easy to move in. How would you recommend I make any adjustments to loosen up the skirt around the belly and hips?
I didn't want to put a slit in the back of the skirt. How would I mark the center back for seam allowances and zipper if I don't put the slit in?
Thank you for any assistance you can provide. It is very exciting to be able to make a pattern designed for me and to understand the process. I am looking forward to making the skirt and then trying the bodice pattern.
Your lessons are very easy to understand and follow.
Dorothy
You can add more ease from just below the waist to hip. All you need to do is increase the side seam only.
As you know the slit in the skirt is to help for walking in your skirt. You can get rid of it by not putting it on your skirt pattern. The center back seam of your skirt will still allow you place your zipper in it whether or not you place a slit. I hope you make the skirt full enough for walking ease.
Zippers are placed 7" to 9' from waist. You can remove the slit from the pattern and make a straight stitch from the end of zipper to hem line at center back.
It sound like you like full skirts.
My measurement is from waist to hip is 6 3/4" (kinda short).
Dear Dorothy,
