securing ruffles on a shirt

ImageHello,
Every time I wash this shirt (please see picture) the rufles curl and flip up. What is the best way to secure them using sewing machine or hand sewing?

Re: Keeping the shirt ruffles from curling up after washing

Dear enasokab,

Because of the way this shirt is made, the edges of the ruffles should fall freely. If you do not want them to curl up, you can tack them in place by hand before washing it. Then remove the tacks afterwards.
