I am trying to purchase a dress from a store online but I'm not sure which size to get because of the fabric the dress is made out of. The dress is made of Mederith satin with a stretch satin charmuse lining. I need to understand if there is a difference between the give and stretch of fabric or if this term is describing the same attributes of a piece of fabric.
Dear heavenlybdy29,
You do not have to worry about stretch or give of a specific type of fabric when you purchase a garment. The designer and those who have sewn the garment have taken all this into account. Therefore I suggest that you order the garment that is in your own size. This will ensure you get the best fit possible for a ready to wear garment. Usually when a dress is store bought you may still need to make some alterations, since every one has a unique body shape.
Hope this helps.
Happy sewing,
Nehzat
