How to alter pants with hanging crotch

Purchased dress pants and need help to alter the hanging crotch.  Do you sew up each leg making the seam wider and wider until you reach the crotch and then the same amount down on the other side?

Hi Sheena77,

I have answered this question some where else, but I will repeat it here for you.

One easy ways to shorten the crotch of pants is to remove the waistband and re-sew it further down, this can be done if the pockets do not get in the way. Also make sure the hemlines are still in the right position.

The other way is to bring up the in seem at the crotch. However you can only decrease the crotch length by about 2 cm when using this method.

Make sure you do a fitting before trimming any excess fabric.
