Hi!

Firstly - Success!

Drafted my skirt pattern for the fuller figure, made the skirt and I can't believe it! It actually fits and it looks pretty good. My question is - when making one dart into two I ended up with very narrow darts ( measuring in millimetres). I took this as being my shape - not a lot of difference between hips and waist measurement. Can you suggest what I should do please? Thankyou - Jaybee

Re: Narrow Waist Darts on Skirt

Hi Jaybee,

Congratulations for your success in making the full figure pattern and a skirt that fits you just right.

Whenever the difference between the lower or upper hip circumference and the waist circumference is small you will have narrow darts. Even if the dart intakes are minute, they will still give a good fit and look to the garment and give an illusion of a narrow waistline.

So your results are just right, especially since the skirt fits you so well.

I would relay love to see your work, so if you can please upload a picture. You can do so by clicking on the icon with the landscape picture on it when replying.

Happy sewing,

Nehzat

Pictures of my successes!

Hi Nehzat

Although the pictures are not the best I'm quite proud of my results. The blouse I made from the bodice pattern and added sleeves from a commercial pattern. They were too large so I made some pintucks on the shoulder cap. Also it was too snug, even though I added some ease, so I put pearl buttons on and made some button loops. Supposed to wear it with a camisole! The red skirt was the first one - lined just like your video - and the black one was my adaptation with no waistband and a little tapered. I made a full slip by extending the bodice pattern but somehow it ended up too short! It also rides up something terrible!! A learning curve I suppose?

I've tried to make a top with no front opening but had huge trouble getting the fit right around the shoulders/armpit area although it fits everywhere else. I thought I should lower the seam line in the armpit/sideseam area. What would you suggest?? and what parts should I measure to get a good fit??? Soooo looking forward to trying the long pants. Thanks so much for your site

Cheers

Jose

Sorry I couldn't get the pictures to load using the landscape icon. Any suggestions???

Re: Pictures of my Successes

Dear Jose,

I am really happy to see that you are making a good effort and making progress. In order to give you the right advice I need to see the garment on you.

Since you were not able to upload the pictures directly, you can email them to me and with the help of the web support we will post them here in the discussion forum.

My email is Info@esewingworkshop.com

Happy sewing,

Nehzat
