You do not have to worry about stretch or give of a specific type of fabric when you purchase a garment. The designer and those who have sewn the garment have taken all this into account. Therefore I suggest that you order the garment that is in your own size. This will ensure you get the best fit possible for a ready to wear garment. Usually when a dress is store bought you may still need to make some alterations, since every one has a unique body shape.
I see you joined over a year ago. I hope this site has proven to be all you expected and more! I'm new to the site and I have great hopes and aspirations about this site helping me.
Hi Sew Magic! I'm Sew Karesa Lol!
I'm new to this website and I've been scrolling through all the 'new members' posts and I noticed no one replied to yours. As a newbie to this site, I'm still clicking around alot just to see what's what.
Take care and happy sewing :-)
By the way, I'm a beginner sewer. I've sewn a few things in my life... I even made my prom dress with assistance of my Home Economics teacher but all my sewing as been with a more experienced sewer with me, coaching me and guiding me along the way. I hope this website helps me to take that 'big girl' step and be able to sew on my own.
It's interesting to me that you are a man and sew...especially that you sew mens clothes. I'm a beginner sew so I'm sure I won't be of much to you but I noticed that no one took the time to properly welcome you when you joined a month ago...at least not on this discussion board, so I just wanted to say hello and welcome.
As a newbie to this site myself, I'd hate for my welcome post to be ignored :-(
Wow! You sound very advanced in your sewing experience. When you get your crepe pencil complete I hope you post pictures. I'm very excited to see your work!
Hi Bamby and welcome!
I'm new to this site and to sewing. I love this page so far and I am absolutely amazed to see all the places the members are from. This page is really motivating!
I'm new to sewing and to this page. I consider myself a beginner sewing and I'm looking forward to this page teaching me ALOT. I watched a few free videos of how to install a zipper and I knew this was the site for me.
Hi Libby! What part of NC are you in? I lived in Ayden, NC for a couple of years and graduated from Ayden-Grifton H.S. Ayden is the little town that borders Greenville where ECU is.
Anyway! I'm a beginner sewer and I'm looking forward to this page helping learn to sew. I've sewn a garment or two in my life...in fact, I made my prom dress (with the assistance of my Home Ec teacher) :-)
Hi Kristy! I'm also new to this page. I've sewn some in the past but it was always with the assistance of more experienced sewer coaching me. I'm sure this page will help you... I'm sure it will us both! :-)
I created a fan page on facebook, feel free to 'Fan' me: www.facebook.com/SewKaresa
As I sew and make things, I'll be posting them. The world will be watching me learn and grow. I'm kinda nervous but I'm also looking forward to sewing again.
congratulations Mary Margaret on your new Grandaughter! What wonderful memories you and she will create together. I still have the day gowns my Grandmother made for me ~ 60 years ago! I hope to copy them for my youngest cousin (and my Grandmother's favorite Grandchild) that is expecting her first child at 42!! Yes a shocker! any hoo~ here we go!
I love the machine that looks similiar to the old version... I have noticed the features and buttons look exactly like my Singer Athena 2009 I bought. My friend found a white one and she loves hers. I would love to have your machine in black. Happy sewing!
Lynda
For machines that do not have a buttonhole stitch setting, you can still sew buttonholes by using the technique that I show in the Skirt Sewing Lesson, Chapter 45.
Hello everyone! I have appreciated the step by step videos to remind me how to properly thread my serger. I purchased it a while back and have not had time to use it much. One of the reasons for my wanting to pull out my sewing machine and serger again is because I am about to have a grandaughter and the motivation to create again is back.
I have 2 questions about the serger.
How often does it need to be oiled?
How often does the cutter need to be sharpened?
I would not like to have an automatic renewal of the membership. Should you
not consult me first in the case of membership renewal. Membership renewal
should only be valid upon the customer's agreement.
Could you do something about this? I would like the membership renewal to
be reverted.
Thank you,
Suzana
