If I were to use the Full figure drafting, do I draft and leave out chapter 10 and 11(adjusting front and back pattern dart for the full figure), and then continue from chapter 12 to chapter 14(checking upper hip circumference, adjusting skirt length, smoothing out waistline) and then leave out Chpt 15 and 16 (adding seam/hem allowance and cutting out patterns) and continue from Chpt 17 to 18(draw foldline and lengthwise grain) after whichj I trace out the pattern and use that as the block pattern to join with the bodice block pattern?
The lesson we currently have on-line does not include pockets. Since you don't want the pants to have a waistband, you need to draft facing patterns for the top part of the front and back of the pants. After adding the seam allowances, as the darts are closed, copy the top section of your patterns on a piece of paper, then draw a line 7cm below and parallel to the waistline for the front and back facing.
It realy depends on your level of experience. In my experience with my live class students those with an intermediate skill level can draft and sew a pair of pants in about 18 hours.
If they are not familiar with sewing seams, darts, hemming and inserting zippers, it might take a few extra hours.
I cover all of these subject as well when sewing the pants. Some of the above topics are covered individually with their own video lessons on the site.
I have answered this question before on the forum, for your convenience I will re-post it here again.
There are a number off things that might cause the threads to tangle.
1. Everything might be done correctly, but when you start sewing you need to hold the top thread that is hanging behind the presser foot tightly without pulling it. Hold it for at least two stitches.
2. Make sure you bring the bobbin thread to the top after inserting the bobbin case
3. Check to see that the bobbin thread tension is okay (not too loose not too tight)
4. Check the top thread tension as well again (not too loose not too tight)
5. It could also be that the needle is not inserted correctly (in the right direction or not inserted all the way up in it's place)
6. Also check to make sure that the bobbin is inserted in the bobbin case correctly
7. The bobbin case should also be inserted correctly
8. If the bobbin is wound loosely you might experience tangling as well
9. Also if the thread is too tick for the needle or too stiff the thread might tangle
10. Both the top and bobbin threads should be the same material and thickness
11. Make sure that the needle point is not blunt
I suggest you re-watch the sewing machine essentials video lessons again. Watch the lessons with the machine that is similar to yours and then the sewing section as well.
I suggest that you wear a tank top which matches the color of your pants under the dress instead of sewing a lining to the dress.
If you don't want your chiffon dress to be too transparent, you can use two layers of chiffon.
To sew a dress with two layers of chiffon, the inner layer should be plain and can have the same color as the lightest color of the outer layer. Make sure the inner layer is the same kind of material and has the same weight as the outer layer. Otherwise the two layers will fall differently on the body. Cut and sew both layers from the same pattern using French seams, sewing both layers at the same time as if one layer.
Make sure that you pin the outer and inner panel layers together along the seam lines, before sewing them together.
If you have a full figure, you need to use the full figure pattern that you drafted for the skirt.
To style your skirt block pattern for the panel dress, you don't need to draw a second dart. Since the existing dart will be transferred into the seam line. When a seam line is formed, the dart point should lay smoothly against the body. If not, you can smooth it out when drafting the pattern or after the first fitting.
You can purchase inexpensive fabric, like you suggested and use it to practice the other lessons on the site. I suggest cotton fabric since it is easier to work with.
I am sure that you can benefit by following the on-line instructions that I provide, since I show and explain all the steps needed to start and finish a project.
Thanks for the kind words. We checked the two chapters and were able to view them. However please make sure that you are signed in to be able to view the complete lessons.
Please let our technical team know if you are still having problems, trough our contact page.
I'm also unable to view these two lessons. I've truly enjoyed all the lessons I've viewed and because of this I have renewed my membership for another year. Can't wait for the sleeve lessons!

Thanks Nehzat for your prompt advice.
Hi,
I was unable to find the finished pants, can you give more detail on how to find them.
Dear athomemom56,
You can get a close up view of the pants from the pants sewing video lessons on the last chapter, after I press the pants.

However I will be posting a few pictures in a few days from the darts area, on the wrong and right sides in my project gallery and here on the forum.

Dear Barbara,
We are planning to release the transcripts in book form in the future. In the mean time I suggest that you take written notes when watching the video.
You can also do a quick sketch of the pattern and write the notes around it for different parts of the pattern using arrows.
Happy sewing,
Nehzat
